Women on the Road: Vanlife Safety, Sisterhood & Soaking in Ojo Caliente

On our last Zoom call with the women of our vanlife community, Adventure Together, A Women’s Vanlife Collective and the energy was high. It’s always powerful to gather in real time to swap tips, share stories, and support each other.

Here’s what went down (and what’s coming)...

Welcome to the Collective, Bonnie!

A big warm welcome to Bonnie, who just joined our group. She’s a fierce, full-time traveler, van builder and fellow nurse (yes, we love a woman who knows her way around both a wound and a wrench 💪). Her reminder? There’s no time like the present to live the life you’ve been dreaming about.
Vanlife isn’t about waiting for the right time—it’s about choosing freedom now.

Vanlife Safety Tips: Real Talk from the Road

When you’re living in your van, safety isn’t just a checklist—it’s a mindset. We had an open, honest convo about what keeps us feeling secure on the road. Here are some of the top vanlife safety tips we shared:

  • Bear spray: not just for bears—it’s a powerful defense tool.

  • Cameras: install front and rear cameras for peace of mind.

  • Nighttime prep: spin the driver’s seat before bed, keep your key fob (with panic button) by your bed, and a second one near the front.

  • Doors stay closed: don’t open for strangers. Period.

  • Know the laws: If you carry pepper spray, tasers, or firearms, be aware of the rules in each state.

  • Boondocking smarts: avoid one-lane roads with no exit. Always have a way out.

  • Trust your gut: If something feels off, it probably is. Move on.

These aren’t fear-based rules—they’re freedom enablers. Being prepared lets us relax and enjoy this lifestyle even more.

Ojo Caliente Campout: Soaking, Sisterhood & Soul Care

We’re getting excited about our upcoming glamping-style retreat at Ojo Caliente! This spot is next-level self-care and lends itself well to vanlife connection.

Here’s the vibe:

  • Natural hot springs soaking pools (20% discount for campers!)

  • Mud bath, sauna, and steam room access

  • Free morning yoga

  • Labyrinth hikes and nearby trails

  • On-site restaurant (hello, nourish-your-body meals)

  • Campsite just steps from all of it

Cost: $40/night for camping
Soaking pass (discounted): ~$28.80 for a full day

We’re making this a sacred space for connection, relaxation, and FUN. From van tours and potluck spreads to intention circles and spontaneous laughter—this is what Adventure Together is all about.

Optional: Caravan Through Jemez Springs

Want to dip your tires into dispersed camping but feeling a little nervous? We’ve got you.

After Ojo, we’ll be rolling out together for a caravan through Jemez Springs—a stunning route with plenty of scenic (and safe!) boondocking options. It’s a perfect way to get comfortable with off-grid camping, especially if you're new to it.

We may need to cap the number of vans, so if you're interested in coming along for the ride (with a little extra one-on-one guidance), reach out soon!
